Only a Christian… 7 True Claims Unique To Us

Only a Christian… 7 True Claims Unique To Us

Only A Christian… (In no particular order)

1. Only a Christian is audacious enough to fold every piece of wisdom, law, and advice into a simple, one sentence plan for success: ‘Love God with everything you’ve got, and Love your neighbor as yourself’.

2. Only a Christian has the audacity to tell the rest of the world that the purpose of all life, all meaning, all love, and all Hope in the world is to be found in a bearded fellow who walked around 2000 years ago claiming to be God.

3.  Only a Christian celebrates the gain of their life, by their loss of it.

4.  Only a Christian would be foolish enough to follow a guy who up front told them to expect daily ridicule, abandonment from friends, rejection from their families, physical and mental torture from society, and even death – and to count it all as a blessing.

5.  Only A Christian would gather regularly with others to remember, celebrate, and be thankful for the gruesome death of their leader.

6.  Only a Christian claims that the God of time, substance and being itself would come to meet us where we are, and rescue us personally. All other religions concentrate on getting to, becoming, or acting like a god.

7.  Only a Christian knows that seeing the miraculous is actually witnessing how the world is supposed to work, and not some one time inexplicable event.

What claim would you add to this?

This one is my favorite. They are all good, but I love this one. I’ve always been surprised by how many people think they have to “be good enough”, especially when the truth is, we cannot be “good enough”. The freedom of God’s plan is amazing. I am always amazed by it. We don’t have to act or dress a certain way or give all our money or fly a plane into a building to be “good enough”. I wonder why we humans always think we have to be “good”. Maybe it’s the way we’re raised. Maybe it’s that we know you don’t get something for nothing, after all, everything has a price. And yes, eternity with our Creator has a big price too. The difference is, we didn’t have to pay it. He already did. That is a fantastic plan and only a being with more love than I can really even imagine could or would do that for us. For me. Now, if you know me, you’ll say, I don’t deserve to get into Heaven. And you’re right. I don’t. But the best news of an everlasting lifetime is, I get in anyway. And no, it didn’t cost me anything. I don’t have to be “good enough”. Jesus was good enough and that’s how I’ll get in. I love that line of the song: Amazing love, how can it be, that You my King would die for me? I am so grateful I know about that love and I’m so honored by that sacrifice. My hope is that we’ll all be ready, because without a doubt, our time is coming. I’m a grateful person.
